While undoubtedly it is true that many people learn about thermography in their search for a mammography alternative- and who would blame them- crushing trauma to the breast area is a cause of breast cancer, not to mention the discomfort and the need to wait until the age that most people are being diagnosed with breast cancer before screening can be done. That is where breast thermography really shines: it is both a completely non-invasive procedure and it can be performed early on, as breast tissue density is not a factor.
In fact, it is recommend that breast thermography be started early- such as in a woman's twenties- to get a baseline reading. Breast physiology changes over the years, and by getting a baseline, women can follow any changes to determine if any occur that need to be monitored or are of concern. More than breast cancer will be detected- any changes at all, including fibrous growths in the breast. With as many risk factors as there are in the world today, it can't hurt to be more proactive in monitoring breast health- in fact, it can probably only help.
