The practice of mindfulness can be found among many different spiritual practices around the world. The practice of being present is nearly ubiquitous, and yet it is still one that many people struggle with. Simply staying connecting with what you are doing each moment, in that moment...well, it seems like it might be simple. But without practice and dedication, the mind will wander into the past, the future, or into fantasy, and when this happens a person ceases to be living in the present moment. They are no longer mindful.
Intentional action necessitates mindfulness, for how can one have clear intent and follow through without focus? Practicing mindfulness is for many people, a spiritual practice. Being present, fully, from moment to moment, is a way of living one's life in devotion and in accordance with one's spiritual beliefs. It is more than an ideal; it is a way of life.
